Ivermectin (Generic Stromectol) is an antiparasitic drug, a broad-spectrum drug used for humans and animals. Despite the relatively low toxicity, the drug is used only as prescribed by a doctor.
The drug can be used both externally and internally (depending on the type of disease). Ivermectin first became known in the 70s of the last century. The drug became widely used for medical purposes in 1981. Currently, Ivermectin is on the WHO main list of drugs intended to combat parasites. Since 1997, the drug began to be used for the treatment of strongyloidiasis, but was banned for the treatment of scabies, head lice in patients with weakened immune systems, as well as HIV-infected patients.
Ivermectin (Generic Stromectol) is prescribed to humans against roundworms that are localized inside or outside the intestine, in tissues and organs. This drug helps get rid of ascariasis (roundworm), enterobiasis (pinworms), trichocephalosis (whipworm), strongyloidiasis (threadworms), filariasis (filaria), onchocerciasis (onchocerca). Not prescribed for treatment of tapeworms and flukes. Also effective against ectoparasites: pediculosis (lice), demodicosis (mites).
The drug is available in the form of tablets and suspension. It contains the active substance Avermectin, which is released during the life of the bacteria Streptomyces avermitilis. It has a paralytic effect on the nervous system of parasites, blocking the transmission of impulses. As a result, they lose mobility and die, after which they are eliminated from the body naturally. There is no need to take a laxative after taking the drug.
The medicine is quickly distributed to all tissues and organs. After 4 hours, its maximum concentration is diagnosed in the blood. 28 hours after administration, the drug is naturally eliminated from the body.
While highly effective, Ivermectin has little toxicity if the dosage is followed correctly. The drug allows you to cure helminthiasis at any stage, since it destroys mature parasites and larvae.
People can only take Ivermectin orally, the exact dosage and regimen is prescribed by a doctor.
General recommendations for dosage:
You need to take the medicine on an empty stomach. After taking it, you cannot eat immediately, you need to wait at least an hour.
To remove parasites, 1-2 doses of medicine are enough. Between their doses, 7–14 days should pass. Afterward, a second test is necessary to determine the presence of helminths.
To kill lice, the drug should be taken for 5–7 days, 3 tablets each. Treatment of demodicosis is a longer process. To get rid of ticks, you need to take the drug for 7 days, 5-7 tablets. This is a large dose, so treatment according to this regimen can only be prescribed by a doctor.
Carefully study all contraindications and possible side effects.
